Good morning! Today’s high in Philadelphia is supposed to be 86 degrees with thunderstorms in the afternoon. Big sports news today out of New Jersey and New York.

The Flyers went up to Newark for Gam3 against the Devils with the series tied at one game apiece. The Flyers scored first which has proved to be the kiss of death so far in the playoffs. The Flyers were 1-3 entering last night when scoring first. The Devils would take a 2-1 lead after scoring 20 second apart. After going back and forth on the next three goals, they would head to overtime. With just over two minutes left in the first overtime, Alexei Ponikarovsky beat Ilya Bryzgalov after a juicy rebound to give the Devils the 4-3 overtime win and 2-1 series lead. The loss drops the Flyers to 1-4 when scoring first and 4-0 when the opponent scores first. More here.

The Phillies had a very early start yesterday afternoon in Atlanta as first pitch was slated for 12:10 pm. If you missed the first pitch, you probably missed the entire game. The game moved at a blistering pace and ended with the Phillies winning 4-0 in just two hours and two minutes. Joe Blanton threw his first complete game shutout in a Phillies uniform as he mowed down the Braves hitters needing just 88 pitches over nine innings. More here.

As happy as the New York/New Jersey fans were when the Devils won is how upset they would be over the following hour. The Miami Heat all but eliminated the New York Knicks last night. The Heat took it to the Knicks as they opened up a commanding lead early and won by a score of 87-70. The win gave the Heat a 3-0 series lead and it appears that the Knicks have all but packed it in. More here.

As if the Knicks losing wasn’t enough, Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was injured during batting practice. Rivera was shagging fly balls in the outfield when he was running down a ball when his knee gave out. According the New York Yankees, Rivera has suffered a torn ACL. The typical recovery from an ACL tear is 9 months which has many wondering whether this is the end of a career for the 42 year old closer. More here.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.  This was only supposed to be a story every few nights on SportsCenter.  Now it’s turned into a national media frenzy.  It's everywhere.  Jeremy Lin has officially taken over the sports world, as well as late-night TV, and news outlets, much like that of a certain quarterback out in Denver this year.  People are paying attention, and so are we here at Whiz Wit, even if it’s a very reluctant attentiveness.

The Knicks are now 15-15 after their current 7 game wining streak, and still five games behind the first place 76ers.  This little known guard from Harvard University has played a huge role in their recent success.  Jeremy Lin is good, but the media is making him out to be Michael Jordan good. But the hype over LINsanity is starting to become ridiculously nauseating, and it needs to stop.  Here’s why.

If you have ever ripped on New York for any reason, you must certainly have heard the phrase “inferiority complex” thrown back at you. One of the many things that New York fans have accused Philadelphia fans of having is an inferiority complex. But what does this actually mean? Does Philadelphia even have an inferiority complex anymore?
