Eagles offensive lineman Evan Mathis was considered the best player on the Eagles last year and many believed he was a Pro Bowl snub. He will be a key component in keeping the Eagles quarterback, whoever that might be, upright.

Well, Evan Mathis is much more than an offensive lineman. He is also an entertaining fellow on social media. He spent Tuesday evening trying to tell Dane Cook that he needs new comedic material. On Sunday, he was kind enough to remind everyone to call their "baby mamas" on Mother's Day.

Yesterday, Mathis chose a new target to poke fun at: the IRS. Mathis posted on Instagram a photo (see right) of him peeing in front of the IRS building. He captioned the picture: "Audit this."

This is funny in and of itself but what adds to it is that Mathis posted, rather sarcastically, "Poor IRS" on Twitter on Tuesday in response to Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Icognito.

It is nice to the Eagles actually doing something entertaining for the first time in a while.

It is incredible how far one man can fall in the public eye in just a couple of months. When LeSean McCoy stepped off the field on December 30th following the Eagles 42-7 loss at the hands of the New York Giants, many held him in high regard around the league as a tough player, young leader, and bound for stardom all while keeping himself out of the papers off the field.

It took less than a month into the offseason for all of that to change. McCoy got into a very public fight with the mother of his child on Twitter in the early morning hours of January 27th. He went as far as to call her names and beseech the help of his Twitter followers to harass her.

It was certainly a black eye and McCoy worked over the last few months to restore his image. It seemed to be working until today.

TMZ is reporting that a Philadelphia woman is suing McCoy for "assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and negligence" that reportedly occurred on December 18, 2012 when he kicked one of 15 women off a party bus on the New Jersey Turnpike. The woman is reportedly looking for $50,000 worth of damages because "she suffered head trauma, a disc protrusion on her spine, bad sprains, contusions and bruises all over her body, and severe shock" according to the report.

Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane tweeted today that McCoy does not dispute that he kicked the woman who sued him off the bus but disputes the rest of the accusations.

McCoy, 24, rushed 200 times for 840 yards and two touchdowns last season in 12 games. McCoy missed four games due to a concussion.

It is tough to find a more polarizing player in Philadelphia history than Donovan McNabb. He led the Eagles to five NFC Championship Game appearances, one Super Bowl appearance, and is the franchise leader in passing touchdowns (216), completions (2,801), and passing yards (32,873).

Despite his on-the-field accomplishments, many remember the former No. 2 overall pick for his failure to win a Super Bowl and the time he vomited in the huddle in his lone Super Bowl appearance.

On his radio show on NBC Sports Radio, the 36 year old McNabb announced that he will officially retire as a Philadelphia Eagle this fall.

If everything works out, September 19th could be the day that McNabb retires as an Eagle. On that day, former Eagles head coach Andy Reid returns to Philadelphia as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. That game is also going to be broadcasted nationally as it is NFL Network's Thursday Night Football game.

Reid made McNabb his first draft pick as head coach with the Eagles. Under Reid, McNabb went 92-49-1 as a starter in Philadelphia.

The Eagles offense is going to look different. They are going to be faster. They are going to be much, much, much faster. In addition to the rate in which they are going to play, they are also focusing on reducing turnovers. Turnovers were a problem last year for rookie runningback Bryce Brown as he lacked the fundamental ability to protect the football.

The increased speed plus necessity to reduce turnovers means that the Eagles are going to have to employ more than just LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. Enter: Felix Jones.

ESPN is reporting that the Eagles have agreed to a one-year deal with the former-Cowboys running back. Jones, who turned 26 last Wednesday, rushed 111 times for 402 yards last season for the Cowboys.

The former first round pick out of Arkansas was primarily the No. 2 back behind DeMarco Murray in Dallas. Since 2008, Jones ranks fourth in the NFL in yards per carry averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

File this story under: I was not expecting to ever see that. Quick, can you name a player on Philadelphia's Arena Football League team, the Soul? Time's up! I couldn't off the top of my head but owner Ron Jaworski is a Philadelphia staple at this point whether you are a fan of his or not.

When I think of the Soul I can't help but think of the day in July 2008 when Jaws proclaimed in joy that he was happy the Soul could end Philadelphia's title drought when they won the Arena Bowl. It makes me laugh but, in reality, the Soul have enjoyed some success in Philadelphia but are forced to take a back seat to the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76ers, and, now, the Philadelphia Union.

If Jaworski got his way, the Soul would steal front page headlines in Philadelphia. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Jaworski offered former NFL first round pick Tim Tebow a contract to play football for the Philadelphia Soul.

The report states, rather clearly, that Tebow would not be the starting quarterback for the Soul but would be brought in for specific situations, primarily in the red zone. Tebow was used in similar situations last season with the New York Jets but the team did not have the kind of success they has hoped when they acquired him from the Denver Broncos.

Tebow has not responded to the report nor to the contract offer. I wouldn't hold your breath on Tebow playing at the Wells Fargo Center anytime soon.

The NFL did their own bracket to correspond with the NCAA Tournament. They took 64 great plays and allowed fans to vote. Fans voted Steve Young's touchdown run against the Vikings on October 30, 1988 and DeSean Jackson's game-winning punt return against the Giants on December 19, 2010 into the final round.

With 58,635,836 votes, Jackson's touchdown beat Young's touchdown by more than 15.7 million votes for the NFL's Greatest Play of All Time. Jackson's touchdown was the culmination of an incredible comeback by the Eagles as they scored 28 points in the final 7:29 to overcome a 21 point deficit. Video of Jackson's touchdown is below.

The experiment is over. This was the last major move that fans were waiting on. The news today is the unofficial statement of failure from Howie Roseman regarding the 2011 free agent class. The class that included Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins, Vince Young, and Ronnie Brown lost their headliner today. With all four players gone, most recently Jenkins who was released last week, the only player who remained from the big class was cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. The key takeaway is that this is all in past tense.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles have released Asomugha today.

Asomugha was a colossal failure in Philadelphia. He came to the Eagles after spending eight years with the Oakland Raiders. He signed a five-year, $60 million deal in July 2011. He record three interceptions with 40 tackles in his first season in Philadelphia. Many believed that Asomugha underperformed in 2011 and would regain form in 2012 playing in press coverage. That was not to be as 2012 was a complete disaster for almost every Eagle. Asomugha had one interception and looked like he had lost all foot speed. At 31 years old, Asomugha appears to be on the down side of his career.

I think it is safe to say that Eagles fans are happy about the move to rid the team of their “shutdown” corner.

Eagles fans ears are perking up more and more as news begins to come out that things with the New York Jets are not going well between the front office and their best player, Darrelle Revis. The 27 year old cornerback is coming off of ACL surgery and the team has been reluctant to pay him top cornerback money. Revis is entering the final year of his four-year, $46 million deal that he signed in 2010. It sounds like this situation is going to get even more interesting in the coming hours/days.

New York Daily News writer Manish Mehta is reporting that the Jets will trade Revis this week. Mehta points out that it makes sense for the Jets to trade Revis within the next couple of days because the already thin cornerback market will get even thinner as teams begin to sign free agents.

Revis and the Eagles is not a new idea. ESPN NFC East writer Dan Graziano posed the idea last Wednesday that the Eagles should do whatever they can to get Revis. Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane echoed that sentiment over the weekend. Even the New York Post has the Eagles as potential suitors for the former first round pick.

The former Pittsburgh Panther has spent all six of his professional seasons with the New York Jets. Despite only appearing in two games last season, Revis still registered as many interceptions as Nnamdi Asomugha. Revis has intercepted three or more passes in four of his six NFL seasons. He has 19 career interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. The 5’11”, 200 lbs corner is likely to command an annual salary between $12-16 million.

The Eagles will have somewhere in the area of $40+ million to spend this offseason and will need to spend to reach the salary floor. With Revis entering the last year of his contract, the Eagles would likely want to discuss a long-term deal to ensure that Revis is not a one-year rental. Mehta added on Twitter that the likely compensation for Revis is not necessarily a first round pick. With the holes in the secondary combined with the cap space, the Eagles and Revis seem like a match made in heaven.

The Eagles are supposed to do their due diligence when it comes to free agents and potential prospects. I keep telling myself this as reports come down about where the Eagles front office brass was on Monday. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk the Eagles front office was in Morgantown, WV on Monday working out West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.

The report states that new head coach Chip Kelly was joined in West Virginia by general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie. Many people are scared of Smith and do not believe that his skill set is worthy of the No. 4 overall pick. He has been linked to the Eagles for much of the off season because of his mobility and Kelly’s preference of having a mobile quarterback. Last week the Eagles signed quarterback G.J. Kinne to a contract that gave the Eagles five quarterbacks, joining Michael Vick , Nick Foles, Dennis Dixon, and Trent Edwards .

Last year at West Virginia, Smith completed 71.2% of his passes (369-for-518) with 42 touchdowns and six interceptions. In three seasons as a starter for the Mountaineers, Smith completed 67.4% of his passes for 11,662 yards, 98 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. The 6’2” 218 lbs. quarterback ran a 4.59 40 yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine last month in Indianapolis.

NFL free agency is slated to begin tomorrow at 4:00 pm but that only means that the rumor mills are only going to heat up. The Eagles have holes that need to be addressed in free agency and through the draft. New head coach Chip Kelly will look to build a team around his new offensive system. In order for his system to work, he needs his weapons.

One weapon might be coming via free agency. CSNPhilly’s Geoff Mosher is reporting that the Eagles will pursue free agent wide receiver Danny Amendola. The 5’11” 188 lbs. receiver spent the last four seasons with the St. Louis Rams.

The 27 year old Texas Tech-product reeled in 63 passes for 666 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games last season. He played in only one game in 2011 but played a full 16 game schedule in 2010 catching 85 passes for 689 yards and three touchdowns. Amendola has been a part of the Eagles organization before. He spent a little more than a week on the Eagles practice squad in 2009 before then-Rams offensive coordinator, now current Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur signed him in St. Louis.
