Missing Najee Walls will be a huge hit to the Explorers' rotation. The second leading scorer from last year played crucial minutes off the bench against Coatesville(missed a majority of the early season due to illness) and is a formidable ball handler. Senior Sean Witherspoon will play a much bigger role in the Explorer offense after dropping 11 against Coatesville. Senior Dan Corr will get the start again after proving to be quite the offensive weapon after adding 11 points including two from beyond. This is a game where the depth of the Explorers' has potential to shine.
Having your leading scorer and D1 commit not playing is never an ideal thing to have. Missing Krmpotich will be a huge loss for the Explorers as they will look towards their younger players to pick up some of the slack. Junior Shane Stark will most likely get another start as will fellow junior Ryan McTamney. Senior Matt Dessner could pick up a lot more minutes as could fellow senior Charlie Hemcher. It is really unsure where Coach Dempsey will go with this, as he could go with another big man or start another guard.
As mentioned before, the depth of the Explorer lineup could really prove itself here. Sophomore Jarrod Stukes added some quickness and athleticism to the floor against Coatesville showing his ability to get to the basket and create plays. With two less players to work with, a lot of players will have the chance to step up. Senior Mike Crone and sophomore Matt Paulus will have opportunities to step up in the guard rotation, while younger players like sophomore Alex Sislo could also gain some good experience at the varsity level. The Explorer bench will most likely make or break this game for La Salle.
GA has a ton of talent and depth at the guard position. Leading the pack is 5'10 junior Devon Goodman. Goodman is a quick, athletic shooter. He runs the offense well and has no issue scoring. Through three games, he is averaging just over 10 points. Following him is 6'3 sophomore Evan-Eric Longino. Longino is a young player, but started last year as a freshman. According to CoBL, he is a very strong player who can score at the basket, but is still developing his jump shot. The third guard in the GA lineup is 6'2 senior Tim Guers, who has commited to D2 St. Anselm. Guers is a very smart player that knows how to score. Through the first three games, he is leading the team with 18 points/game. Guers is a more formidable player on offense than he is on defense, but shows he has been a huge threat in the beginning parts of the season.
Heading the front court for the Patriots is Colgate bound 6'6 senior Sam Lindgren. Lindren is a true small forward who can score from anywhere on the court. A similar player to Krmpotich, but not as athletic. Through three games he is averaging 14.3 points/game. Joining him down low could either be Longino or Guers, but the Patriots prefer running a smaller lineup.
The Patriots don't have as much depth as the Explorers do, but still have a couple players that could get time. 6'10 junior Joe Stinson has come off the bench and with his height could be a defensive monster. Junior guard Bailey Whitman has also come off the bench to play some minutes. The Patriots have a lot of height, but not a lot of experience on the bench. The team returns four seniors, with a majority of the team being made up of the junior class.
