Rivalry: It's one of the best rivalries in the state. This game is more than a championship game, it's for bragging rights and pride. Three months from now the student sections will be chanting "Football... Football... Football" or "Soccer... Soccer... Soccer". You don't want to be on the receiving end of those chants. It's a shot right to the ego. There is a sense of hatred between the two schools. Seeing the other win burns the mind as much as a brand on the head. Neither wants to see the other be successful and each team will do whatever they have in their will power to make it not happen. Regular season doesn't matter here.
Victory: It is a championship game. You lose, you're done. You don't get an award for losing, you don't get an award for making it a close game, and you don't get an award for trying your hardest. Victory brings back the good ol' PCL hubcap and a berth in the PIAA AAAA State Championship. No team fights a whole season to lose in the championship. As Herm Edwards would say, "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME." Each team will fight there hearts out. No player wants their high school career to end in a lose. It's time to go out on a high note and time is running out.
