Ever since Ryan Howard went down with his torn meniscus and had surgery to repair it earlier in the summer, he has not been seen or heard from much. He was all but officially shut down for the season then started baseball activities last month.
Now CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury reports that Howard will join the Phillies in Atlanta tonight for the final four games of the season. He will go through full workouts with the team including fielding drills and batting practice.
In 80 games this season, Howard was hitting .266/.319/.465 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI. He wasn't healthy last year playing in only 71 games after rupturing his Achilles tendon in October 2011. We thought he was healthy for part of this year but then he revealed that he was playing in pain for much of the season. Howard has supposedly lost 15-20 pounds since the surgery and focused on getting into better shape while rehabbing in Florida.
