The Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb reports Burnett has a small inguinal hernia and it will require surgery to repair it at some point. Burnett received a cortisone shot on Monday to deal with the pain and he plans to pitch through the pain for the rest of the season.
Burnett, 37, was removed from Friday night's start against the Marlins after 4.1 innings of work due to the groin injury. He is expected to pitch Thursday against the Braves. Overall in three starts this season, Burnett is 0-1 with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.94 WHIP to go along with 10 strikeouts.
