The Sixers welcomed the lowly Washington Wizards to town last night as they were looking to bounce back after their 103-100 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Washington jumped out and took a 28-25 lead after the first quarter. The Sixers buckled down defensively holding the Wizards to just 11 points in the second quarter while outscoring them 23-11 to take a nine point halftime lead the third and fourth quarter would be evenly matched and the 76ers would go on to win 92-84. Jrue Holiday led all scorers with 21 points while Emeka Okafor paced Washington with 15 points and 17 rebounds. More here.
The Memphis Grizzlies, fresh off of their win over the 76ers on Monday, made some moves yesterday as they sent leading scorer Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors in a three team deal. The Raptors sent Ed Davis and Jose Calderon to Memphis for Gay and center Hammed Haddadi. The Grizzlies then sent Calderon to Detroit for Austin Daye and Tayshaun Prince. The move was a money saving move for the Grizzlies. More here.
Packers wide receiver Donald Driver is retiring after 14 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Driver will have a formal press conference at Lambeau Field on February 6th. He retires with 763 receptions for 10,137 yards and 61 touchdowns. He helped lead Green bay to their 2010 Super Bowl championship. More here.
