With three minutes remaining in the second period of the Flyers 2-1 victory on Thursday, Max Talbot and Rangers' forward Benoit Pouliot were chasing a puck near the Rangers bench. Talbot had the inside edge as the two closed in on the puck when Pouliot hit the Flyers' forward in the back sending Talbot to his knees and square into the boards.
Talbot hit the boards violently leading with his head. His neck snapped back as he slumped to the ice. Orange jerseys converged on Pouliot while trainer Jim McCrossin came to the aid of Talbot. Talbot was shaky on his skates heading to the bench then needed help multiple times getting tot he Flyers dressing room.
Talbot did return to the game but Pouliot did not as he was issued a five minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. The league has determined that the in-game punishment was sufficient and Pouliot will not have a hearing with Brendan Shanahan.
You be the judge.
I'm just glad he is okay after the hit.
