Flyers Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent weighed in today on the Flyers exit from the playoffs. Parent had some interesting things to say and many of them along the lines of the Flyers are not too far away from taking home the Stanley Cup. One thing that really jumped out was Parent's praise of goaltender Steve Mason in which he calls Mason "one of the top five goalies in the league."
With the way Mason played in the playoffs, it is hard to argue with Parent. Mason posted a 1.97 GAA and a .939 SV% allowing eight goals on 131 shots against in a little over four games against the Rangers.
As far as top five, that might be a stretch at the moment. The 25-year-old tied a career-high with 33 wins this season going 33-18-7 with a 2.50 GAA and a .917 SV%.
