The league has fined Schenn $2,230.77 for his cross-check which did not earn a penalty on the ice. The fine is the maximum amount permitted under the CBA without a suspension.
The incident occurred in the second period of the 7-2 debacle in Chicago on Wednesday night. Versteeg and Schenn were jostling for the puck along the near boards when Schenn cross-checked Versteeg in the side of the head. Versteeg went down but the referee's arm never went up.
Schenn, 22, is second on the team in points with 18 and third in goals with seven. He has really come into his own this year which is good news for him as he is slated to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
