ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown is being urged to decline the 76ers head coaching job. The Sixers offered Brown the job yesterday.
Brown, 52, has been an assistant coach on Greg Popovich's staff in San Antonio since 2002. He previously coached for 14 years, nine as a head coach, in the Australian National Basketball League and coached the Australian Olympic team. Brown interviewed with the Denver Nuggets before the team offer their head coaching job to Brian Shaw. It was reported the night of the draft that the Sixers had hired Brown but general manager Sam Hinkie quickly rebuffed the report.
I would be pretty upset if Brown turned down the job. I think he is just the guy for the 76ers to develop their young talent moving forward. Please take the job, Brett.
