ESPN's Chris Broussard reports that the Cavaliers are shopping second-year shooting guard Dion Waiters. Cleveland has reportedly had talks with the 76ers, Knicks, and Bulls already about the possibility of workoing out a deal for the 21-year-old.
Waiters, who was selected fourth overall out of Syracuse, is a Philadelphia native who graduated from Life Center Academy in Burlington, New Jersey. In 12 games this season (nine starts) with the Cavaliers, Waiters is averaging 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 38.9% from the field. His numbers are down slightly, except for rebounds, from his rookie season when he averaged 14.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.
The name Evan Turner has been tossed around in trade rumors but I don't think trading Turner for Waiters straight up is fair at the moment. Waiters' stock is falling while Turner's is rising. Maybe Waiters plus draft considerations would get it done.
