On the first play of the third quarter, Floyd pulled in a pass from Rivers with safety Nate Allen trying to tackle him from behind. As Allen slowed down Floyd, linebacker DeMeco Ryans came across the middle and smashed Floyd with a clean but hard hit that caught Floyd in the head and neck area.
Floyd laid motionless on the ground for a few minutes before being removed from the field on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Fortunately for the Chargers' wideout, his CT scan came back negative and he is "doing fine." Chargers' beat writer Michael Gehlken reports that Floyd will not remain in Philadelphia overnight and will fly back with the team to San Diego tonight. He had movement in all of his extremities and was awake and alert in the hospital.
This was a scary incident and a major blow to the San Diego offense as Floyd was nearly unstoppable today. It is good to hear that he will be alright and hopefully on his way to a full recovery.
