Baylor has been the best offensive team in the country this year, yes even better than Oregon. They are averaging 63.9 points per game and 718.4 yards per game, which is just ridiculous. Quarterback Bryce Petty is leading the offense this year to just extraordinary numbers but he isn't doing it alone. Running Back and potential Heisman candidate Lache Seastrunk, who might be the best RB in college football, is taking a lot of pressure off of Petty by making defenses honor the run. Baylor is on pace to smash some NCAA records averaging over 300 passing AND rushing yards every game. A mark no other team has ever accomplished.
Oklahoma will certainly have their hands full tonight when they travel to Waco. The Sooners will be relying heavily on their defense to try to slow down the Bears and their dynamic attack. The Sooners are no stranger to high scoring offenses. In their last game, they managed to stop Texas Tech and their undefeated season, winning 38-30. Changing defensive schemes is what head coach Bob Stoops attributed to the Sooners beating the Red Raiders. Controlling the amount of plays that Baylor runs will be the key to Oklahoma's success.
On offense, Oklahoma QB Blake Bell, aka the Belldozer, needs to have a good game as the Sooners are Baylor's toughest test of the season so far. It looks to be a great match up, and we might just see a game not unlike Stanford at Oregon last year. Petty and the Bears have been absolutely tearing up the field this year, but Oklahoma seems quietly confident and prepared to take them down.
