Mariota, (2281 passing yards, 511 rushing yards, 29 total touchdowns, 0 interceptions) the electrifying Oregon quarterback has only lost once in his collegiate career- to Stanford. The Heisman candidate admitted to hesitating sometimes when it came to reading the Stanford defense last year. If Mariota and the Ducks high tempo, fast paced offense can work past that, I think they will have no problem staying undefeated. This is also first year head coach Mark Helfrich's first game against Stanford. Chip Kelly left Oregon last year after missing the National Championship game losing to Stanford in OT last season. Helfrich looks to continue his winning ways as he broke the school record for best record to start a first season as coach (8-0).
For Stanford, they expect to play the same way they have in the past. After a shocking loss to Utah, they have held both UCLA and Oregon State, both good offenses, to under 13 points each. Head Coach David Shaw has spoken to trying to throw Mariota out of his season-long rhythm. The Cardinal defense believes that Mariota is "due" to throw an interception. Of course it is easy to think that when the kid still hasn't thrown one yet this season. Mariota has been playing lights out and absolutely perfect. The Cardinal hope to change all that.
