The Flyers reportedly signed the right-winger to a three year contract but then it was announced that he had signed a professional tryout contract instead. Then yesterday reports surfaced that Cleary will not be joining the Flyers due to contractual issues.
General manager Paul Holmgren stated yesterday following the report that he expected Cleary to be at the skate Thursday morning and would continue to expect it until he heard directly from Cleary.
Cleary, 34, played in 48 games last season for the Red Wings scoring nine times and dishing out six assists. The 6'0", 208 lbs. winger scored 12 or more goals in each of the six seasons prior to the 2012-13 lockout-shortened season.
Whatever. If he doesn't want to be here then fine, let him go. If it counts for anything, most of the fanbase was up-in-arms when they found out he was signed anyways.
