The NFL announced on Wednesday Eagles running back Darren Sproles has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. It marks the first time in his career he was won Offensive Player of the Week whereas he has won Special Teams Player of the Week twice.
Sproles, 31, rushed four times for 26 yards including a 19-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 20 late in the third quarter. Perhaps most impressive was his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. The 31-year-old led the team in receptions (7) and receiving yards (152) against the Colts getting key yards after the catch to move the Eagles down the field to set up the game-tying touchdown to Jeremy Maclin and later, Cody Parkey’s game-winning field goal as time expired.
His impact on the Eagles through the first two weeks cannot be overstated.
