The NFL announced on Wednesday Eagles running back Darren Sproles had been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4. It is the second Player of the Week honor already for Sproles this season as he won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. He is the first player to win two Player of the Week honors in the first month of the season.
Sproles, 31, only had three touches on offense on Sunday against the 49ers but he made his impact in the second quarter when he returned an Andy Lee punt 82 yards for a touchdown. Sproles' punt return gave the Eagles a 21-10 lead at the time and was enough to keep them in the game until the waning seconds of the fourth quarter.
