The team has announced David Buchanan will start for the Phillies on Wednesday night against the Houston Astros at Citizens Bank Park. He will take the rotation spot of Lee, who went down with an elbow injury on Thursday night. A corresponding roster move will be made prior to the game.
Buchanan, 25, is 5-5 with a 4.40 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP in 59.1 innings of work in 10 starts for the Phillies this season. Opponents are batting .254 off of him in his 10 Major League starts which is lower than the .291 they are batting off of him in Triple-A. Buchanan's last start for the Phillies came on July 10th against the Brewers when he allowed one run on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts in seven innings of work getting the win.
Buchanan has earned the decision in each of his 10 starts this season.
