Defensive coordinator Billy Davis told Sheil Kapadia of Birds 24/7 that Curry is "absolutely in the mix" for a starting defensive end position in the 3-4 scheme. Curry, 25, has played well for the Eagles this preseason registering four tackles (three solo) and 0.5 sacks.
The 59th overall pick in the 2012 draft is undersized for a defensive end standing at just 6'3" and 279 pounds. There were concerns about Curry's size last season as he only appeared in six games registering nine tackles (eight solo) and no sacks. He is getting a longer look this year in a new system.
Coming out of Marshall, Curry was one of the players you wanted to see succeed as he had a positive attitude and genuinely seemed happy to play in Philadelphia. It didn't hurt that he was an Eagles fan too. The coaches have stated that they intend to rotate six players on the defensive line so being a starter doesn't guarantee all the snaps, just a lot of them.
