The Sixers, New Jersey Devils, and the Prudential Center have a "major announcement" tomorrow before the Devils-Stars game according to the teams. Sixers legends Allen Iverson, Moses Malone, and Darryl Dawkins will be in attendance while the Devils will have some "legends" of their own at the announcement.
It is no secret that Sixers owner Joshua Harris purchased the Devils and Sixers president Scott O'Neil is the president of the Devils as well. The obvious connection here is a possible relocation of the Philadelphia 76ers but there are no reports nor evidence supporting that.
I don't have the slightest idea what this "major announcement" could be. I really don't. The only thing that I, along with a lot of other Sixers fans, could think of is relocation but that is a big decision and a big move. I just don't know how that flies totally under the radar until the day before the team's major announcement. There are so many hurdles that I don't think there is any way this could be a relocation.
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Mike Sielski confirms that the announced is not to announce the relocation of either franchise. He also confirms that is is not about any on-court or on-ice matters for either franchise.
Whatever this announcement is, it got Sixers fans fired up in a hurry. This announcement better be good for both team's fans tomorrow. Or, at the very least, the Sixers fans.
