FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported last night that the Phillies had talked to the Colorado Rockies about their 26 year old centerfielder, Dexter Fowler. As Troy Renck of the Denver Post points out, the Rockies could be up for moving the outfielder.
Fowler had a breakthrough season, establishing career-bests in home runs (13) and RBIs (53), while ranking sixth in the National League with a .389 on-base percentage. The Phillies, Reds and Braves are all seeking a leadoff hitter… But with the Rockies no longer exploring a long-term deal with Fowler, he will remain in trade speculation. If he's not a cornerstone player, then he's a commodity.
Nearly identical sample sizes at home and on the road for Fowler but they tell two very different stories. This must be considered when deciding whether or not to deal a young arm (or two) for the Rockies centerfielder.
