ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New Orleans Saints have agreed to trade running back Darren Sproles to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2014 fifth-round pick. The team had two fifth round picks thanks to the Isaac Sopoaga trade with New England in the fall.
Sproles, who turns 31 in June, is one of the most dynamic receiving running backs in the NFL. He had rushed for only 220 yards last season in New Orleans but caught 71 passes for 604 yards and two touchdowns. He has put up 497 or more receiving yards in each of the last five seasons topping 600 yards in each of the last three. In the last three seasons, Sproles has caught seven touchdown passes twice.
He is a dynamic runner who gives Chip Kelly another weapon on offense.
The real question here is why the Saints would trade Sproles within the NFC?
