Cornerback Bradley Fletcher suffered a concussion after being blasted by one of his own teammates trying to make a tackle in the fourth quarter. He missed practice for the fourth straight day on Friday and has been ruled out Sunday against the Chargers.
Fletcher, 27, played well on Monday night making seven tackles (four solo) and keeping his receivers relatively quiet.
The secondary is already shaky so losing Fletcher makes it tougher on defensive coordinator Billy Davis. In all likelihood, slot cornerback Brandon Boykin will slide to the outside but the newly re-signed Brandon Hughes could also step in on the outside as he has been an outside corner for the majority of his career.
One thing to watch if Boykin (5'10", 185 lbs.) slides to the outside is where Chargers wide receiver Malcolm Floyd (6'5", 225 lbs.) lines up. That could be a mismatch that Philip Rivers looks to exploit.
