The team announced that they have claimed and been awarded running back William Powell, who was placed on waivers by the Arizona Cardinals.
Powell, 26, was on the 53 man roster last season for the first time in his career. The former Kansas State running back rushed 60 times for 217 yards (3.6 yards per carry) last season while also catching 19 balls out of the backfield for 132 yards (6.9 yards per catch).
In addition to what he provides in the backfield, Powell is also a kick returner as he averaged 24.1 yards per kickoff return last season - 15th best in the league. While at Kansas State, Powell led the nation is Kickoff Return Average averaging 34.5 yards per return.
Add Powell to the growing list of running backs in Chip Kelly's stable for training camp and he joins fellow Kansas State running back Bryce Brown in the Eagles backfield. Whether he sticks on the roster remains to be seen. In order to make room for Powell, the Eagles released wide receiver Nick Miller.
