The Philadelphia Daily News' Les Bowen reports the Eagles have looked into Raiders pass-rusher Lamarr Houston, who is slated to become a free agent tomorrow. The 27-year-old Houston figures to garner a lot of interest once free agency begins at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
Houston, who stands at 6'3", 300 lbs., had a career-high six sacks last season for the lowly Raiders while tying a career-high with 69 total tackles, a feat he has accomplished in back-to-back seasons. He also put up an impressive 27 quarterback hurries in 2013. Houston has the ability to rush the passer as an outside linebacker or play defensive end while also showing the ability to be a three-tech tackle on the defensive line.
A man that big that is able to play three different positions at a high level is certainly hard to find which explains why Houston is expected to get a lot of interest on the open market. The Eagles desperately need a pass-rusher and it looks like the team is likely to pursue one in free agency.
