The Eagles announced Tuesday they re-signed punter Donnie Jones to a three-year deal worth up to $6 million according to reports. They had been talking to him over the last few days about an extension but could not sign him to a long-term deal until after 4:00 pm today.
Jones, who turns 34 in July, was phenomenal in his first season with the Eagles in 2013. "Donnie Football," as he was affectionately known, punted 82 times averaging 44.9 yards per punt with a long of 70 yards coming at a crucial point in the Eagles 24-16 victory over the Redskins in November. Jones put a career-high 40.2% of his punts inside the 20-yard line in 2013.
After the Eagles re-sign Jeremy Maclin, Jones was the only other Eagle I really wanted the team to retain and they did just that.
