The Eagles announced on Monday they have re-signed wide receiver Arrelious Benn less than a week after cutting him and saving $1 million in cap space.
Benn, 26, suffered a torn ACL while serving as a blocker in a kickoff drill early in training camp last August. The 6'2" 220 lbs. wide-out, who was acquired with a seventh round pick in March 2013, looked like he might get the opportunity to step up into a contributing role with Jeremy Maclin tearing his ACL earlier in training camp.
Benn caught four passes for 26 yards and no touchdowns in eight games in 2012. The 2010 second-round pick had caught at least 25 passes in each of his first two seasons for 395 and 441 yards, respectively. Benn was a top prospect coming out of high school and surprised a lot of people by opting to play football at the University of Illinois.
I followed this guy from high school through college and thought the trade to acquire him was going to be an impact move for the Eagles. Hopefully we get to see that potential with the Eagles.
