The Philadelphia Eagles announced they have signed first-round pick Marcus Smith to a four-year contract. He was the last of the Eagles seven draft picks to sign with the team.
Smith, 22, won the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2013. He recorded 14.5 sacks and forced four fumbles. Smith's 1.12 sacks-per-game lead the NCAA. The 6'3", 251 lbs. pass-rusher can also drop back in coverage as an outside linebacker. He has 34" arms and and ran a 4.68 at the NFL Combine.
Smith came into Philadelphia to interview with the Eagles, he was a top recruit coming out of high school and Chip Kelly personally attended his Pro Day at Louisville. In fact, Kelly pulled Smith aside to talk to him one-on-one.
