The Eagles announce they have agreed to terms with third round pick wide receiver Josh Huff from Oregon on a four-year contract.
Huff, 22, caught 62 passes for an Oregon single-season record 1,140 yards and 12 touchdowns. He struggled with injuries in 2011 and 2012 only posting 430 and 493 receiving yards in those seasons for nine combined receiving touchdowns.
Kelly stayed away from the initial evaluation process in order to stay objective given his familiarity with Huff and the rest of the Oregon team. The 5'11", 206 lbs. receiver can come in and contribute right away on special teams and possesses good speed running a 4.51 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.
Huff comes from a tough background as his mother dealt with a drug addiction finding herself in and out of jail. She hit Huff with a 2X4 when he was a child and almost killed him. He shows a strong work ethic but many say he needs a strong support system at the next level. Chip Kelly should be able to provide that for Huff.
