The Eagles said in a statement today that Celek was fighting a sports hernia and a torn labrum in his left hip. The statement reads:
"The Eagles announced that tight end Brent Celek underwent two successful surgeries on Tuesday - one to repair a sports hernia and another to fix a torn labrum in his left hip.
The procedures were performed at the same time. Dr. William Meyers fixed the sports hernia and Dr. John Salvo from the Rothman Institute was responsible for taking care of the labrum repair. The operations took place at Jefferson at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. There was no announcement regarding a timetable for rehab."
Celek is signed through the 2016 season.
