The Eagles have traded running back Bryce Brown to the Buffalo Bills for a fourth round pick in 2015 or a third round pick in 2016 or a fourth round pick in 2016. They also swapped seventh round picks this year which moves the Eagles up to 224th overall instead of 237th. Brown was the 229th overall pick (seventh round) by the Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Kansas State.
Brown, who turns 23 on Wednesday, broke out his rookie season in 2012 rushing 115 times for 564 yards and four touchdowns. When LeSean McCoy went down in 2012, Brown stepped in and rushed 19 times for 178 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. He followed that up the next week with a 24-rush performance for 169 yards and two more touchdowns.
The third-year back failed to reach that potential in 2013 under Chip Kelly as found himself falling below Chris Polk on the Eagles depth chart. With the addition of Darren Sproles this offseason, Brown became expendable and Kelly said the Bills had been calling about Brown "for a while."
