CSN Philly reports that Bourdon, who has suffered multiple concussions, has not been medically cleared to play and that he still gets concussion-like symptoms when he is involved in contact drills with his teammates.
Bourdon pointed out earlier this summer that he has a tough road ahead of him as he not only must prove that he is healthy but that he is an upgrade over the guys already on the roster. Major competition for Bourdon will be the players, such as Oliver Lauridsen, that stepped up late in the season and played well.
Bourdon, who turns 24 on Tuesday, played in 45 games for the Flyers in 2011-12 scoring three goals and adding four assists for seven points. At 6'0", 225 lbs. he can be the puck-moving defenseman the Flyers have lacked since the departure of Matt Carle.
I wish Bourdon the best of luck in his recovery as concussions are such a delicate injury to recover from. He showed flashes of potential in 2011-12 and, at just 23 years old, he could easily regain that form if he can stay healthy.
