Claude Giroux was not named to Team Canada on Tuesday as the star-studded roster that will be headed to Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics will be without the highest scoring Canadian the last three seasons.
Giroux, who turns 26 on Sunday, is having another impressive season for the Flyers after a very rough start. The captain has 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points in the team's 42 games this season. Giroux's resurgence is consistent with the Flyers resurgence as a team after beginning the season 1-7.
Five Flyers are officially headed to Sochi after Michael Raffl was named to the Austrian team last week, Mark Streit officially was named to Team Switzerland and Jake Voracek was named to the Czech Republic team on Monday, Andrej Meszaros joined Team Slovakia on Tuesday while Kimmo Timonen was named to Team Finland just minutes later.
