Flyers chairman Ed Snider addressed the media this afternoon as he does annually following the season. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Sam Carchidi reports, as does Comcast Sportsnet's John Clark, Snider confirmed general manager Paul Holmgren will remain as the team's general manager. Snider added that assistant general manager Ron Hextall was brought in to be the next general manager "but that doesn't mean tomorrow."
The Courier-Post's Dave Isaac reports that Snider was less definitive about Holmgren saying the decision is up to Holmgren as what his title will be moving forward. Comcast Sportsnet's John Boruk took a similar view as Isaac that Snider did not make any such confirmation about Holmgren as general manager.
Sifting through the reports and trying to figure out what Snider actually said should not be this difficult. That being said Isaac's report seems to be the most logical so I'm going with that one. Plus, it helps my hopes of having Holmgren go back to being a full-time scout while Hextall steps up as general manager.
You can hate Holmgren all you want but there is no denying the man has an eye for talent as a scouting position would be right in his wheelhouse.
