All of that could change this season.
Flyers general manager told Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer that defensemen Nicklas Grossmann, Braydon Coburn, and Andrej Meszaros have all returned to good health and have been cleared to play. Holmgren cites the return of the trio to good health as one of the best parts of the off-season.
Coburn missed 15 games, Grossmann missed 18 games, and Meszaros missed 37 games due to injury last season. If the Flyers stand to be successful this season, they need these big guys on the backend to play well and remain healthy. Although the Flyers were able to get some young guys some reps last season, their best chance to compete comes on the shoulders of their established defensemen.
