CSNPhilly’s John Boruk tweeted yesterday that Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren was a “a little bit” concerned about Briere’s condition but only in regard to his short term health. Flyers insider Anthony SanFilippo said that Danny Briere said he could miss a week to 10 days with the injury. That would put him up near the opener on January 19th that Lisa Hillary is reporting Briere will miss.
Briere is out for the opener but probably not much more but we cannot get a clear read on his situation until Saturday at the earliest. Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Briere cannot meet with the Flyers’ hand specialist until the new CBA is ratified by both the NHL Board of Governors and the NHL players. The Board of Governors will vote on Wednesday while the players’ vote will conclude on Saturday.
