The Flyers announced on Friday defensemen Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald will both be out for approximately four weeks with lower-body injuries. MacDonald blocked a shot on Wednesday against Pittsburgh while Coburn looked like he was going to return Tuesday in Chicago but was a late scratch.
MacDonald, 28, scored one goal and had two assists for three points in the Flyers first seven games this season. He ranked second on the team in average time on ice at 22:56 trailing only Mark Streit. He appeared in 19 regular season games last year for the Flyers after being acquired from the New York Islanders adding four assists. His first goal for the orange and black came in the playoffs against the Rangers.
Coburn, 29, played in all 82 games last season for the Flyers scoring five goals and adding 12 assists for 17 points. Coburn enters his ninth season (eighth full season) with the Flyers. He has played 538 games for the orange and black scoring 36 goals and dishing out 116 assists for 152 points while averaging 22:07 of ice time.
