With the exception of Briere, the one thing that the Flyers have not had to deal with so far this season is the injury bug. Through the first three games, everyone came away relatively unscathed. Well, the Flyers might not be able to hang their hats on that anymore either. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Sam Carchidi tweeted this morning that Scott Hartnell was limping badly after the game and had an ice pack on his left foot.
Hartnell was setting up to screen goaltender Martin Brodeur when Kimmo Timonen let loose a blast that caught Hartnell directly in the foot. He went down in a heap and limped over to the bench amidst cheers from the Devils crowd. Hartnell would remain in the game but his status for tomorrow is still unknown. He will not practice today; instead, Briere took Hartnell's spot on the top line with Giroux and Voracek. The Flyers are off tonight before returning home tomorrow to take on the New York Rangers.
On the year, Hartnell has one assist for one point in three games. He has recorded 13 shots on goal and 13 penalty minutes to go along with a team-high eight hits.
