The Fourth Period's Dennis Bernstein reports that Bodog.ca has set the odds at 2/1 that Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette will be the first head coach fired this season.
Laviolette, 48, has had success in Philadelphia winning 47 games and topping 103 points in each of the last two full 82-game seasons. Overall with the Flyers he is 145-94-29 in 268 games since taking over for John Stevens in December 2009. He led the Flyers to an Eastern Conference Championship and trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010.
I love Laviolette and I want to see him succeed in Philadelphia so this is troublesome even though the writing might be on the walls if the team stumbles through the first month and a half.
