Well that'll change as now comes word from TSN's Bob McKenzie that Laviolette is up for consideration for a very special honor. Laviolette, along with Penguins' coach Dan Bylsma and former Rangers, now Canucks head coach John Tortorella, is a finalist to be the head coach of the United States Olympic team in 2014.
Laviolette, 48, has been the head coach of the Flyers since December, 2009. He is 145-95-29 in his time in Philadelphia and previously won a Stanley Cup as head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.
