Flyers forward Vinny Lecavalier is one of the players who would vote against outlawing fighting from hockey as he told Darren Dreger of TSN that fighting is "part of the game." Lecavalier would know as he fought three times during the lockout-shortened 2013 season - once with new teammate Luke Schenn and also with new teammate Max Talbot.
I agree with Lecavalier that fighting is part of the game. Hockey, like baseball, has its own set of checks and balances - fighting happens to be one of them. Although it is more vicious and probably more barbaric than baseball's checks and balances, it doesn't make it any less effective. If players want to fight, let them fight.
