They have begun the year 1-6-0 and are currently the only team in the NHL that has not yet scored three or more goals in a game yet this season. They've been held to just one goal four times already this season.
The power play has been atrocious as they haven't scored a power play goal since the second game of the year. The Flyers went 0-for-2 Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks to make them 0-for-17 on the power play in their last five games and 2-for-29 on the season.
They most games in one season in which the Flyers have scored two or fewer goals in game is 50 in the inaugural 1967-68 season followed by 46 games in 2002-03. Right now, the Flyers are still waiting for their first three-goal game but it has to be coming.
Captain Claude Giroux has two points in seven games while Scott Hartnell are combined minus-6 and have zero points between them to this point. Their big guns cannot possibly stay this quiet for an extended period of time.
If it is a little motivation that they need, they'll likely get it on Thursday with the hated-Penguins coming to the Wells Fargo Center. If that doesn't energize the Flyers, nothing at this point will.
