Due to the equal hatred that each party and the fanbase has for the other, calls for an outdoor game at the neutral Beaver Stadium, home of Penn State football, have been getting louder and louder. Flyers CEO Peter Luukko and Penguins CEO David Morehouse both seem intrigued by the idea and have had some preliminary discussions about the possibility of playing in front of 110,000 people.
One of the major hurdles with hosting the game at Beaver Stadium is that one of the two teams would have to sacrifice a home game. The Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Rossi reports NHL chief operating officer John Collins states that one of the teams sacrificing a home game is something that they will have to get over if this game will ever take place.
I'd love to see this happen and I'm sure the Penn State contingent is chomping at the bit to see this game in front of this many people.
