The Post-Star's Diana Nearhos reports the Flyers have loaned forward Tye McGinn to the Phantoms and have recalled forward Chris VandeVelde. VandeVelde has been around the Flyers for the last few days.
This could be a minor move swapping out a guy who has been a healthy scratch for another guy who is likely to be a healthy scratch or it could be something else. It could be the team bringing up VandeVelde to replace Jason Akeson for Game 2 after the rookie's ill-advised double-minor he took in the third period in the Flyers' Game 1 loss.
I hope it's not the removal of Akeson from the line up to be honest.
VandeVelde, 27, has appeared in just one game since January 28th and that came in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on March 11th. On the year, VandeVelde has one assist in 18 games this season for the Flyers. McGinn, 23, played in the last four regular season games for the Flyers registering a goal and an assist in that span. Overall in 18 games this season, McGinn has four goals and one assist.
