NHL.com's Bill Meltzer reports center Ryan White will be out five months recovering from a torn left pectoral muscle. White underwent surgery to repair the injury at the end of August. His surgery was performed by Dr. Gerry Williams at Methodist Hospital. The injury occurred during an off ice workout in Brandon, Manitoba in August.
The Flyers signed White to a one-year, two-way deal at the beginning of the month.
White, 26, appeared in 52 games last season for Montreal scoring two goals and dished out four assists. In parts of five seasons with the Canadiens, he scored five goals and added 12 assists. White is a fourth-line forward who plays in defensive situations. He is a grinder who can be used to draw penalties.
