Flyers general manager Ron Hextall announced on Wednesday center Sean Couturier is recovering after undergoing successful abdominal surgery on Friday. He has already begun is rehab and is expected to be back healthy in 5-6 weeks.
Couturier, 21, just finished his third full season in the NHL and showed great improvement over his 2012-13 performance. He scored 13 goals and added a career-high 26 assists for 39 points in 82 games. While Couturier's offensive game is coming around, he has further solidified himself as one of the top shutdown defensive forwards in the NHL. If he can continue to improve upon his offensive numbers, he should be in the talk for the Selke Trophy in no time.
