Flyers insider Anthony SanFilippo reports the team has agreed to terms with University of New Hampshire center Kevin Goumas on an AHL-only contract for next season. Goumas will report to the Phantoms today on an amateur tryout.
The 22-year-old enters an organization that has found tremendous talent in college free agents such as Matt Read, who scored his 20th goal of the season last night for the Flyers, and rising defenseman Erik Gustafsson.
Goumas has been described as a "game breaker" which explains his 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points in 40 games for the Wildcats last season. The center was one of the highest rated college free agents this year. He only stands at 5'10", 160 lbs. which means he will likely need to bulk up a bit before reaching the NHL level.
This is the second year in a row the Flyers have signed a productive, yet undersized, college free agent forward as last year they signed Kyle Flanagan.
