Flyers owner Ed Snider did not endorse his play. Bryzgalov was called a mistake. Even former teammate, and all-around good guy, Danny Briere admitted that not everyone liked the Russian netminder.
Now we can add Wayne Simmonds to that mix. Simmonds was on the "Brady and Lang in the Morning" show this morning talking about his former goaltender and said that the change in goal from Bryzgalov to Mason and Emery will be beneficial for the Flyers. Simmonds also praised the Flyers acquisitions of Vinny Lecavalier and Mark Streit.
Simmonds, who turns 25 on August 26th, scored 15 goals and added 17 assists for 32 points in 45 games last season. In his first year in Philadelphia in 2011-12, He scored 28 goals with 21 assists for 49 points in 82 games. He was acquired in June 2011 along with Brayden Schenn in exchange for former captain Mike Richards.
The more I hear about the lockerroom dynamic with Bryzgalov, the more I wish I was a fly on the wall for some of the "incidents."
