More bad news is coming as The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Sam Carchidi reports that Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced that Simmonds would be out for tonight’s game against the Lightning. Simmonds had two goals and three assists for five points in eight games this year. The 24 year old is coming off a career year in which he scored 28 goals in 82 regular season games in his first season with the Flyers.
That is another huge blow for the Flyers who are already without power forward Scott Hartnell on the top line. That means that rookie Tye McGinn will get a crack at playing alongside Claude Giroux and Danny Briere on the top line for the Flyers tonight. The puck drops at 7:30 pm at the Wells Fargo Center.
